People like Sakina and her husband Ari have been left behind. Under the conditions of their work Visa, they don’t have a ‘safety net’.
No Medicare, no Newstart or Jobkeeper, no concession card.
They are simply ineligible for government support in their time of need. They are out on their own.
And if they don’t pay their rental debt by August 1, this young family will be out on the streets.
ARA’s Emergency Support Service is their last resort – will you please send a lifechanging gift urgently?
The Emergency Support Service gives immediate practical help to people whose situation doesn’t “tick the boxes” for crisis relief. From food vouchers to employment connections, the Service creates a pathway for real change in people’s lives.

Ari lost his job just before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, they have done all they can to support themselves and their children, Tahira and Jamil. They even spent the $10,000 in superannuation Ari had earned. Sakina told us:
“For 14 weeks we cannot pay anything, the rent, the electricity, the gas, school fees, the bus for Tahira to go to school. I do not know what to do. We try everything.”
Stressed, ashamed and fearing homelessness, now Ari faces serious illness. “Ari has pains in his heart, I ask him to go (to the doctor). I know Ari is worried, because the appointment will cost money, and the medicine. But what if something very wrong?”
In their desperation, Sakina and Ari visited Centrelink and five different organisations asking for help for their family. They were turned away by every single one before they found ARA.
Without your support for ARA, these families have no-one and nowhere to turn.
You can help Sakina, Ari and their children with a gift to the Emergency Support Service.
Thank you for your kindness.
